1993 Bombay March 12 is the forthcoming movie based on Mumbai riots and the effects it had on people. Mammootty plays the role of Sanathanan Bhatt. The film revolves around the effects of the blasts in the lives of three common men. The film will depict the effect of the incident and the sufferers of that.

Bombay March 12, which is Babu Janardhanan's debut directorial venture, has Mammootty in the lead and goes back in time, to the early 1990's.

The film is being directed by young award winning director Abhay Simha. Mammootty plays the role of an IT professional who finds a half-written novel set in the pre-independence era. The novel is about a hunter and a village girl. What makes the story more interesting is that Mammootty also plays the central character (the hunter) in the novel.

It will be a treat for Kannada audiences to watch Mammootty in action. Mammootty has earlier spoken Kannada dialogues for the Malayalam film Vidheyan (The Servile) directed by Adoor Gopalakrishanan
